As a health and fitness enthusiast, I am always looking for ways to keep myself resilient and healthy to face my long and hectic days. Throughout the week I grabbed a soul-soothing ally that I was recommended, “Los 72 Nombres de Dios, TecnologĂa para el Alma,” del escritor Yehuda Berg (“72 Names of God,” Yehuda Berg is the son of Philip Berg the founder of the Kabbalah Centre and is co-director of the centre. Kabbalah is an ancient wisdom that provides practical tools for creating joy and lasting fulfillment. It’s an incredible system of technology that will completely change the way you look at your world). I was caught amidst a bit of angst and fear when while trying to visualize what the next chapter of my life holds.

When that happens, I recur to silence for answers to be revealed, and once I get a clearer overview, I reach out to prayers and my own effort as they provide the solution. Once I got past that inner turmoil, I decided to try something new to nurture my body. Looking through my countless books, I found this one my younger sister gave me last September. “The Top 100 Juices, 100 Juices to Turbo Charge Your Body With Vitamins and Minerals.” Wow! Without a doubt, nature is one of the greatest gifts humanity was gifted with! These are wonderful but I was in the mood of trying something different, something I can boast about to Marlene, one of my clients I put on a nutrition plan.

So I went to Mercado Alcalde where I usually get my fresh fruits and veggies, and I got a few Pitahayas, also knows as dragon fruit. According to what I researched at the  market and through online resources, a pitahaya contains around 60 calories and it is rich in vitamin C, B1, B2 and B3, and minerals such as iron, calcium, and phosphorus.

I was surprised to know the many benefits it provides so I made myself a nice and filling protein shake with my made up recipe: 1 pitahaya, 2 slices of papaya, a banana, an apple, and some agave honey which filled me up for a few hours. Yummy!

Here are the many benefits of this colorful fruit also known as the dragon fruit:

Dragon fruit has an extremely low amount of cholesterol, which ultimately helps the body break down this fruit quickly, keeping you happy and healthy. It’s the perfect fruit to maintain your weight and satisfy your sweet tooth.

2. Heart Healthy

Americans have increasing problems maintaining cardiovascular health. Fortunately, this fruit has an amazing superpower that helps decrease bad cholesterol levels and replenish good levels. Dragon fruit is an excellent source of monounsaturated fats, helping the heart stay in great condition.

3. Fill Up On Fiber

To clean up your digestive system, eat a dragon fruit. They have a high fiber content, which can assist with poor digestion and constipation. Eating the flesh and seeds, which contain good protein, will keep your body fortified and satisfied.

4. Active Antioxidants

To rid the body of free radicals and cancer-producing properties, you can eat foods that contain antioxidants.

5. Fights Diabetes

The high amount of fiber in dragon fruit can ultimately help regulate diabetes, as it can stabilize blood sugar levels by suppressing sugar spikes. However, with any dietary changes or modifications, always consult your doctor to make sure this is a good food for you.

6. Reduces Signs of Aging

Eating a dragon fruit with its rich antioxidants can keep the skin tight and young. You can even make a face mask using the fruit combined with honey as a natural alternative to anti-aging masks.

7. Treating Colored Hair

Dragon fruit juice is an excellent agent for treating colored hair. By simply putting the juice or a conditioner containing dragon fruit on your scalp, you can protect your chemically treated or colored hair. This will keep the hair follicles open, allowing your hair to breathe and remain healthy and smooth.

8. Suppresses Arthritis

Arthritis directly affects the joints and causes severe irritation and immobility. Adding dragon fruit to your diet can help you fight these ailments. Dragon fruit’s benefits for people suffering from arthritis are so great that it’s commonly referred to as the “anti-inflammatory fruit.”

9. Avoiding Acne

This treatment is not just for teenagers. Rich in vitamin C, this fruit becomes a great topical ointment. Turn a slice of dragon fruit into a paste and apply it to your reddened areas on your face or skin, then rinse with water. For best results, use twice daily.

10. Soothe Sunburned Skin

By combining dragon fruit with cucumber juice and honey, you can create a compound much like aloe that can soothe burned skin. Abundant in vita

Passion is my BEST investment

Passion is my BEST investment

I don´t want to write right now, yesterday I was somewhat motivated, on Wednesday inspiration didn´t peer in my window, the day before I just didn´t feel like it. The ideas were slipping along my mind but they weren’t entirely there. Today the intention to play with my game called words is there, I am inspired, BUT I am physically depleted. Glory came really close for two or three days until I hit a relapse once again this morning. I had very little pain on my knee compared to what I´ve experienced for a long time. Despite that chronic catch-22, I´ve been very pumped up pulling through my long ruthless day after day.

Last week, two days ago, yesterday the light at the end of the tunnel was drawing nearer, today it all seems like a mirage and I don´t know how to get to where I was.
Every time I am struck by a physical setback, it seems almost impossible to reconcile with balance once again.

In spite of my inner chaos, right now I chose to be deaf to my pain while I write. Even in moments like this I can multitask like father Lillard told me today. I am relying on the R. I. C. E. method (Rest, Ice, Compress, Rest). I am resting and icing my knee, once I am done, I will compress and elevate it to alleviate the physical suffering.

I am always split up between two options, linger around and feel sorry for myself, or invest my time in my passion, for it will soon reveal my purpose. I can opt to be negative and pessimistic, or I can decide to NOT give up. And this time I chose the second one, for this agony is only temporary because as soon as I am through with this post, I will pamper my knee.

This devotion to keep going is my strongest drive, ever since I was a little girl, I lived for writing, I dreamt about being an acclaimed writer. I have witnessed my childhood dream turn into passion, my passion slowly divert into reality, my reality is yet another victory to celebrate.

My passion is THE best investment because I will get the highest rate of return now that silence has revealed the answers and my prayers have provided me with a solution.

Each and every move that I make, I pray because that ignites the power. And when I have spiritual, mental, physical and professional power, I feel like I can conquer the world because I´ve been gifted with the greatest investment I will ever get...

My passion.

The limits of my world

The limits of my world

By: Gina Yoryet Roman

I was just going through some articles about the advantages of being bilingual. The most interesting I found was this one published by Maria Konnikova on January 22, 2015.

Konnikova made reference to Philosopher Ludwig Wittgenstein who stated the following phrase, “The limits of my language mean the limits of my world.” The words that we have at our disposal affect what we see—and the more words there are, the better our perception. When we learn to speak a different language, we learn to see a bigger world.

I experienced this transformation when I learned a second language. It was not an easy process but it was not impossible either. Considering the first words that I blurted out, “the cat coffee,” as opposed to the brown cat. I determined myself to not only speak a second language but to work towards a higher level. Even now after I co-authored a book, I constantly feel that I have to strive towards higher to improve that language.

I can connect the conception that Philosopher Ludwig Wittgenstein made with every stage and task that each person has to face in our journey. Limitation is nothing but an abstract idea fabricated by our cajoling and deceitful mind. Our mind is a very powerful tool that can be used to our advantage or disadvantage and we set our own restraints.

I have learned to make my mind more resilient to reach a stronger spirit, heart, soul and body. Therefore the drawbacks have only been temporary hindrances that have challenged me to decide whether I want to let them defeat me or not. The opportunities concealed behind those impediments are my main challenge to position myself towards a more promising tomorrow. Those favorable circumstances disguised as stumbling blocks, are my lucky charm at my disposal and they have affected me in a very positive way. My perception towards all the contretemps I’ve encountered has overturned to a clearer overview of who I am and what I want from life.

I am no longer subdued by this world, the universe still seems like a bigger planet that provides me infinite opportunities based on my dreams, goals, skills and yearnings, and my limitations only lie within.
